CAE Study Tip: Talk to the Dog

My dogs helped me with the CAE exam.

No, they aren’t like Doctor Who’s K-9 or anything, but they did hear me out.  What I did was talk out loud to them about concepts I found confusing. This helped me think though subjects and topics. For example, I once sat down on the floor and explained the parts of a financial statement to my dog (who seemed very interested until she figured out I had nothing edible).

You don’t need to talk to dogs, but it does help to talk things though out loud to a colleague, friend, spouse, child, pet, or even just to yourself. You’d be surprised how just hearing your own voice explain association management concepts can help cement a vague idea.
