Jet Lag and Great Ideas Don’t Mix
I have so many great ideas that I took away from the ASAE annual conference and I can’t even think straight enough to implement any of them. I am still jet lagged (or just tired after my red-eye flight). I did start this blog at least–that’s good. I think I will mentally digest my ideas a few more days before I take them to my association.
When I am back to normal levels of rest and awareness, I will start really looking at those ideas. But I will also have to take care to not be too much of an idea hamster. Maybe I will just concentrate on one or two ideas to start:
- The idea generated at a lunchtime conversation in the Expo hall that might increase non-dues revenue for my association while providing a newsfeed to members
- The multiple ideas about Google Adworks that I took away from one of the last sessions I attended
That’s a good starting point. I also have a lot of ideas about how to improve my career. I only need to answer to myself on those, but I will least them here for accountability reasons:
- Write more wiki entries for ASAE’s Associapedia
- Write at least two articles a year for ASAE’s Associations Now (Lisa, if you are reading this I need to contact you on this one)
- Attend four Networking sessions a year (I am going to count Connections 08 as one… it might actually qualify as two I met so many people)
- Keep a brag sheet of the things I do
- Read more about association management
- Keep a professional journal (this blog)
